An event host has options to mark seats an unavailable. There are two options that work best in our ticketing system.
- Assign Only "Offline" Tickets to Specific Seats - this option requires additional ticket configurations, but it is easier to sell the held seats from your backend. This is usually the best option if you know the specific seats you would like to hold when you are creating your event, and you will be manually processing orders for those seats.
- Update Seat Statuses in the Floor Plan - this option requires little initial configuration for the event, but requires editing seat statuses each time you wish to release and sell tickets that were held. This option is best if you would need to temporarily hold some seats on demand while an event is active.
Assign Only "Offline" Tickets to Specific Seats
Every ticket type you create has an option to "Sell Online". When this option is disabled the ticket will be unavailable for purchase on the public-facing ticket sales page, and the ticket will only be able to be sold in an order by your team from the "Add Order" option in your ticketing back-office, see here: Process an Order.
Once you have created your event with a floor plan, you can simply disable the "Sell Online" option. See the video below for more details.
- Start with an event with a floor plan
- Create different ticket categories for selling online/offline
- Assigned offline categories to seats to be held
- Staff users can still sell 'held' seats
Update Seat Statuses in the Floor Plan
Our floor plan system allows event hosts to toggle seat statuses on a whim. This is managed from the "Seat Statuses" option that is available for any event with a floor plan. Simply access the Seat Statuses option and navigate to the "Manage for sales statuses" tab. From there you can mark seats as unavailable. When the seats are ready to be sold, you would need to mark them as available so they can be purchased.
Marking a seat "unavailable" in this way makes it unavailable on both the public and staff ticket purchase pages. Making a seat "available" will make it available again in both places.
- Start with an event with a floor plan
- When a seat needs to be held, go to "Seat Statuses" then the "Manage" tab
- Click on the seats to be held and apply changes, and now they are unavailable everywhere
- When the seat is ready to be sold, mark it as available and it is instantly available everywhere
